Your necklace

Your necklace

After you are done reading this,

you may think I am crazy.

Well, maybe I am, or maybe

I just want you to think that I am.

Look, here.

See all these invisible diamonds?

To me, each one of them

is a tangible moment

when our paths

have intersected in

precious moments

I've held them so dearly

in my heart

now, they have crystallized

into these gems

See this spool of thread?

This soft and silky

fine line?

It is an infinite thread

of golden love.

Now. Watch my hands.

While you sing an Oxun chant

I am going to make a necklace.

Shiny diamonds, strand together

held in sequence

attempting to weave

a story

of respect, of admiration, of honor.

One after another held tight by

this unbreakable line

Moments, diamonds.

What a pretty necklace.

See?

It is your size.

Would you wear it?

Yes. I know.

There is thread left.

With this extra thread

and all the future moments

we'll create in mutual company,

I'll strand together,

while you sing to Yemaya,

bracelets, anklets, belts

and a very, very long

spiral pendant

for the Goddess

In you.

Nice way to drink my first sips of coffee. Your narrative is subtle, like el cholo said...and also kind and respectful to the Goddess in every woman.
